The Movie

Homegrown businesses such as Canva, Vinomofo, and SafetyCulture have taken the startup ecosystem by storm. Canva now has a net worth now over US$1 billion and has joined Atlassian as the second only Aussie company to reach unicorn status. Both Vinomofo and SafetyCulture are heading in the same direction, growing and scaling before our very eyes.

So, what does it take to run one of Australia’s most successful startups?

In this 45-minute documentary, The New Hustle gives the wider community a glimpse into the tech and startup world. In a world where the vast majority of startups fail, the film explores what makes this group of founders different. The New Hustle also delves into why these startups were created and how they’re using technology to improve our everyday lives.

Aussies are strong early adopters of technology; we love the convenience it gives us, the educational and entertainment value, and of course, connecting with friends and family over the plethora of messaging apps,” says Luke Anear, Founder and CEO of SafetyCulture.

Looking to inspire anyone with an idea, the documentary hopes to encourage young people to transform their own world-changing ideas into a reality.

If you’d like to see how Australian companies such as Canva, Vinomofo, and SafteyCulture have reached startup stardom, come join our film screening event.

The Venue

Please note the venue is NOT AcademyXi or ACMI at Fed Square. It is the new creative coworking space of ACMI called ACMI X.

ACMI X is inside The Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre building. While the street address is Kavanagh St, the best way to get to ACMI X is to follow the walkway between the NGV and the Arts Centre. Behind the Arts Centre you will see the blue ACMI X sign across the overpass.
