Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive. ~ Howard Thurman

What’s new since the last mailout?
Your organisers have been taking a well deserved break after the hectic Melbourne Knowledge Week earlier this month. Nothing much happening expect the usual events/classes/workshops hosted by our education partners Collective Campus & General Assembly.
We live streamed a Talk on Purpose jointly hosted by GA & Slow School of Business, called Techheads get Human. It’s about finding your Why, and working on your true purpose. Have a look –

For the newbies here’s a brief run down on what happens at a MSB Drinks –
We keep everything unstructured and informal, just like a startup. This is an event all about YOU. It’s about providing you the time and the space to make connections, meet new people and find your team, or fine tune your idea. Even if you have no idea what you are going to work on, after talking to some of the people you meet on the night, you will walk out with some sense of purpose. Keep coming back and you will soon be on your way…
On the night
Get to the venue around 5:30pm to mingle and have a drink (there is no bar tab). Around 6.30pm we will start the main proceedings – the world famous Silicon Beach 90second pitches. We say that because we live stream it on Periscope and save it on YouTube for the world to see.
If you plan on doing a pitch, please give your web address (URL) to a friendly event host before the pitches start, so we don’t waste time typing it in. Other than that, there is no selection process to do a pitch. You can pitch just about anything provided it’s useful to the community – your startup or app, idea validation, small business (provided it’s relevant to our community), professional service, product etc. Pitches need not be about raising funds. Our best startups are bootstrapped.
We like to keep things short and sharp. Each pitch will be limited to 90 seconds and the whole segment limited to about 45 mins, so everyone could get back to the main purpose of the MSB Drinks – making connections with other Silicon Beachers.
