This is our main, monthly networking event.
Wonder what happens at a Silicon Beach Drinks meetup? The best way to find out – come to one.
For the newbies (there are many – with nearly 300 new members joining every month) here’s a brief run down.
We keep everything unstructured and informal, just like a startup. There is no set agenda, no nametags, nobody asking if you are a hustler or a hipster or something else. We know bootstrapping founders wear many hats, sometimes all at once. We won’t pester you for your email address either.
We won’t ask you to tweet, share this that and the other. You can do that after the event, if you like. But during the event, it’s all about YOU. It’s about providing you the time and the space to make connections, meet new people and find your team. Or fine tune your idea. Or even if you have no idea what you are going to work on, after talking to some of the people you meet on the night, you will walk out with too many ideas. More than you can handle. Keep coming back and you will find your team.
Around 6.30pm we will start the main proceedings – the world famous Silicon Beach 90second pitches. We say that because we live stream it on Periscope and save it on Katch and now on YouTube too. We started live streaming 90second pitches late last year. Last month we had nearly 170 viewers on Periscope from around the world. We email the saved link to angel investors here and overseas. See past streams here.
If you plan on doing a pitch, please give your web address (URL) to one of the event hosts before the pitches start, so we don’t waste time typing it in. Other than that, there is no selection process to do a pitch. You can pitch just about anything provided it’s useful to the community – your startup or app, idea validation, small business (provided it’s relevant to our community), professional service, product etc. Pitches need not be about raising funds. Our best startups are bootstrapped.
We like to keep it short and sharp. Each pitch will be limited to 90 seconds and the whole segment limited to 40 mins, so everyone could get back to the main purpose of the MSB Drinks – making connections with other Silicon Beachers.
Keep up with our plans and progress in 2016, please make sure you read SiliconNews our email newsletter. Past issues can be accessed on Medium. Share with your friends.
SiliconNews goes out on the 10th, 20th and 30th of the month with submissions closing 3 days prior to mailout. Send your submissions to the Editor – firstname.lastname@example.org
See you at the next event.
