Ahoy Silicon Beachers!
This is a FREE networking event for morning people. We are trying this out. It’s the first ever morning event in the 7 year history of Melbourne Silicon Beach.
Will it work? Would anyone turn up at TwoSpace @ Sir Basil in Docklands at 7:30am? Only YOU can answer that.
Drinking #SiliconCoffee in the morning at TwoSpace @ Sir Basil can cause you to find your team, throw all caution to the waters of Docklands and launch your startup, then and there. After all it’s a coworking space.
We dare you to be there!
Will there be pitching?
Absolutely not. The idea behind this event is to allow you time to have one on one conversations with people and get to know them and find your team without interruptions. If you want to pitch, we have two Pitch Nights coming up in April. See MSB Meetup.
I hate ‘networking’. How do I even start talking to strangers?
Okay. Don’t call it ‘networking’. Call it mingling or connecting or whatever. “How can I help You?” is a good question to start the conversation. We are told that’s how conversations start in Silicon Valley.
Will there be free coffee, tea or breakfast? Heard the food is pretty good at Sir Basil?
What the heck! Would you like fries with that? Okay, if we get a sponsor we might have some free coffee for you. Sponsors read this http://bit.ly/SiliconSponsor
What will be the agenda? Isn’t just networking going to be boring?
Like we said, there will be only networking. No interruptions. This is the first ever #SiliconCoffee – we are trying this out to see if it works. To see if people turn up. We don’t have a hosting team for this since we don’t have many morning people in #TeamSiliconBeach. Feel free to turn up and volunteer to shape future #SiliconCoffee events.
Why so early in the morning?
Many of our members work in the CBD or Docklands – this way they could go to work after.
There’s a lot we can do in the mornings – it’s day time in USA and UK. We could cross live to potential partners, sponsors, mentors & investors via Zoom – the video conferencing platform #TeamSiliconBeach use so you can chat with them. We will be testing the tech at Sir Basil.
I can’t make it on 28th. Will there be another #SiliconCoffee later?
Don’t know. It depends on how many actually turn up. We are limiting the RSVPs to 25 so as to keep the event small and intimate.
Why is there a snail in the coffee?
That’s the first cup of coffee Lene, the master coffee artist at Sir Basil served us. We think it symbolises the speed at which Melbourne Silicon Beach has grown. We have taken 7 years to grow to 9,200 members. That is snail pace. Time to accelerate. Don’t you think?
