Our partner, Melbourne Bitcoin Technology Centre, is launching the first ever Blockchain Melbourne Education Session.

The goal of theses sessions is to help our community learn about issues facing the industry and highlight opportunities our members should be thinking about as they build their companies.

This month we’re hosting KPMG to help explain to our members how they can potentially take advantage of the R&D tax incentive.

About The Speaker: David Gelb

David Gelb is KPMG’s Global R&D Tax Incentives Partner. He has over 25 years of experience in advising on R&D tax issues and his global role encompasses tax and industry policy issues globally.  Further, David is a leading member of KPMG’s strategy to help technology based start-ups succeed, both here and overseas. KPMG’s strategy includes looking at how we can help across a range of issues, from sources of funding (grants, tax breaks, investors) through to customer acquisition (markets, commercial partnerships, regulation).

You can find a number of articles online (AFR, The Australian, etc.) by David on his support for tech startups and Australian innovation.

Schedule for the evening:

6pm – Welcome to Blockchain Melbourne and community announcements

6.10pm – David Gelb from KPMG on Government support for tech start-ups (R&D tax incentive / grants for fintech)

6.40pm –  KPMG’s interest and services in this area (tech start-ups and fintech)

7pm – Trends in blockchain (Aus / global)

7.30pm – Wrap up and networking
